BioniLUG Departments and Secretaries

The following departments has been approved by the BioniLUG Congress with the named secretaries appointed by the President and approved by Congress.

Department of Events & Exhibitions

Secretary of Events & Exhibitions – Dan (danny316p) – Acting

Responsible for identifying and coordinating BioniLUG’s participation in physical events, and for organizing collaborative builds intended for display. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Researching and maintaining a list of upcoming conventions, exhibitions, and public displays relevant to the membership
  • Coordinating collaborative builds intended for display at events, including identifying a point person for each build and managing timelines
  • Drumming up member interest in attending events and encouraging members to bring or send their creations for group displays
  • Ensuring at least one member serves as a designated coordinator at each event, responsible for collecting attendance and participation records
  • Submitting participation records to the Secretary of Web & Records for tracking against member good-standing requirements
  • Submitting event recaps, photos, and documentation to the Secretary of Social Media for publication and to the Secretary of Web & Records for archiving
  • Designating additional events not specified in the bylaws as counting towards the member participation requirement 

Department of Member Engagement

Secretary of Member Engagement – Margit

Responsible for organizing BioniLUG’s regular membership meetings and virtual programming, ensuring members who cannot attend physical events have meaningful ways to participate and meet good-standing requirements. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling at least six general membership meetings per calendar year per Section 11.1, including setting agendas and publishing notice at least 7 days in advance
  • Running meetings or designating another member to run the meetings
  • Organizing virtual activities such as building challenges, contests, polls, and other online programming
  • Tracking attendance and participation in meetings and virtual activities and submitting records to the Secretary of Web & Records
  • Submitting contest results, challenge highlights, and activity recaps to the Secretary of Social Media for publication and promotion
  • Designating additional activities not specified in the bylaws as counting towards the member participation requirement 

Department of Social Media

Secretary of Social Media – Alex (alex_mocs)

Responsible for managing BioniLUG’s public-facing social media presence and ensuring consistent, engaging content that reflects the group’s activity and community. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Publishing at least one meaningful update per month across BioniLUG’s active social media accounts
  • lActively soliciting creations, works-in-progress, and highlights from members to feature on the group’s accounts
  • Promoting upcoming events, activities, contests, and collaborative builds
  • Publishing event recaps, contest results, and member spotlights as provided by other Secretaries
  • Coordinating with the President or Community Ambassador on any announcements involving The LEGO Group or Fan CoLab
  • Recommend additional members to Congress for having access to social media accounts
  • Coordinate with members with account access to ensure consistent updates across platforms

Department of Web & Records

Secretary of Web & Records – Jason (Xccj)

Responsible for maintaining BioniLUG’s website, public calendar, and historical archive, as well as tracking member participation for good-standing purposes. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Keeping the BioniLUG website current, including removing or archiving stale content and resolving broken links
  • Maintaining a public calendar of all upcoming BioniLUG events and activities, sourced from the Secretaries of Events & Exhibitions and Digital Engagement
  • Maintaining a historical archive of past events, activities, collaborative builds, and group milestones
  • Tracking member participation against good-standing requirements (minimum 2 activities per year per Section 2.4) using records submitted by the Secretaries of Events & Exhibitions and Digital Engagement
  • Flagging members who are at risk of falling short of participation requirements to the President in advance of year-end

Department of Branding & Merchandise

Secretary of Branding & Merchandise – Ben (ChocolateFrogs)

Responsible for developing and maintaining BioniLUG’s visual identity and producing branded materials for use at events and across the group’s online presence. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a BioniLUG style guide, including logos, color schemes, typography, and other visual standards, for use by other Secretaries and members
  • Designing branded materials for events, including banners, signage, table displays, and any other physical promotional materials
  • Designing apparel and merchandise concepts for member purchase, submitting final designs to the President for production and ordering
  • Producing templates and assets for other Secretaries to use, including social media graphics, website visuals, and announcement layouts, to ensure a consistent look across all BioniLUG channels
  • Working collaboratively with other Secretaries when new materials are needed rather than setting or enforcing standards unilaterally
  • Ensuring all BioniLUG branding is clearly distinguishable from official LEGO trademarks and does not infringe on the intellectual property of The LEGO Group or any other rights holder
